Former Packers linebacker Desmond Bishop confirmed reports of a 1-year deal with the Minnesota Vikings.
“Nevermind about that ‘defensive player of the year’ stuff I said last month,” Bishop said about comments he made in regards to his goals for this upcoming season.
“I made this decision with my family and my health in mind. It’ll be nice to play for the Vikes. They have a good running back, good … um… It’ll be nice. The bar is set to a reasonable level here. They have a great medical staff and my hammy is banged up right now.”
In 2012, Desmond Bishop was put on IR after injuring his hamstring in a preseason game.
“Playing in Green Bay was no joke. It takes a toll on your body. This 1-year contract is great for me. I can rehab a little bit, stay in playing shape, get healthy, then join a real contender next year in free agency.”
Bishop will battle Erin Henderson for the starting middle linebacker spot.
